1962 Mercury Meteor Custom
Here is my new Mercury! I bought it from a guy who lived on a wildlife preserve here in Northern California. He drove it til 1996 when the engine broke. Not sure exactly what happend. It's been in covered storage since then. It has a salvage title which is a bummer, but it's all original and everything is there and I can't find any accident damage. Not sure how it got the branded title. I've been looking for a 62-3 Meteor for a while and finally found one in my area and for sale - I'm stoked. Email Andrew
Here's the back. I popped a battery in and the lights work.
Here's the 260. Was rebuilt in 90...for like 600 dollars....not sure I trust this rebuild. I have a 5.0 motor that would go in nicely, but it's such an original car that might be a shame.
And the insides...where the mice lived.
Here's the mouse. What is it with Mercurys and mice. I had a 65 Parklane in '95 that came from sitting for while. Had another mouse just like this guy(looks the same anyway), and he was living under the rear seat just like this guy.
And the mouse house. Actually...looks like this is where he got his house supplies.....his Home Depot of sorts.
Here's the free stuff. Thelonius Monk's greatest hits, Lolita glasses, and mouse-house supplies.
And the wiring prob: The mouse got to only one spot as far as I can tell. It's right here under the dash. There are 2 plugs, one with 3 wires (colors), and one with 2 wires (red and white). Looks like they used to go through two holes that are in the firewall. On the otherside I can see where they came into the big harness behind the booster for the brakes. Can anyone tell me what they are to? I want to fix them before I try to fire it up. The headlights, parklights, taillights, and dome light all work. Dash lights don't.
More pics of the wiring.
And more.
